Principal's Letter
Principal’s Letter
Welcome to Sunset Lake Elementary!
We are very excited that you are visiting us virtually to learn more about us. It is an incredible honor to be the principal of a school that holds such a special place in my heart. Sunset Lake is not only the school where I have the privilege of serving our students and families— it is also a place where I once walked the halls as a student myself.
At Sunset Lake, we are proud to be the DAWGS! Our DAWGS framework is more than an acronym— it represents the values that guide who we are and how we approach each day:
D — Do Your Best
A — Accountability
W — Work Together
G — Growth Mindset
S — Safety
These expectations are woven into all that we do. They guide how we learn, how we treat one another, how we solve problems, and how we grow together as a school community.
I believe that every student deserves to feel safe, known, valued, and supported at school. Student safety is at the heart of our work, and that includes both physical safety and the emotional safety students need in order to learn and thrive. We know that students learn best when they feel connected, supported, and ready to learn.
We are equally committed to supporting the whole child. Social-emotional learning, positive relationships, and strong academic instruction work hand in hand. We want our students to develop the academic skills they need to be successful while also building confidence, resilience, independence, empathy, and the ability to navigate challenges. Our goal is not simply for students to succeed in school, but to help them develop the skills and mindset they need to thrive.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead a school that helped shape me as a student and now allows me to help shape the experiences of the next generation of Sunset Lake DAWGS.
Thank you for trusting us with your children and for partnering with us in their education. I look forward to learning, growing, laughing, and celebrating alongside our students and families.
We are the DAWGS— and together, we are Sunset Lake!
With pride and appreciation,
Brittnae Bolz
